Miami, October 25, 2023 – In today’s first match of the Major League Soccer (MLS) season, Inter Miami defeated the New York Red Bulls 3-1 thanks to a brace of spectacular goals scored by Lionel Messi. This performance, which took place at Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium, proved that Messi is still going strong at age 36.

Messi scored the game-winning goal for Inter Miami in the 23rd minute with a long-range shot that was narrowly saved by Carlos Coronel, the goalkeeper for the New York Red Bulls. All it took was for this goal to provide joy to the stadium’s many fans.

“The truth is it is biased. “Only Messi can score goals like this,” Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said in a press conference after the match.

At the 57th minute, Inter Miami took the lead thanks to a goal by Robert Taylor, which allowed Messi to take a breath. The New York Red Bulls took the lead in the 72nd minute with a goal from Luquinhas, but Inter Miami equalized in the 88th minute thanks to a goal from Josef Martinez.

This result moves Inter Miami up to fifth place in the MLS Western Conference. At the same time, the New York Red Bulls are now in eighth place.
