The fifth and final week of the Extreme Memory Tournament (XMT) online qualification events is over. It was all about memorizing words, which ultimately decided the 16 slots for the altogether 24 positions of the XMT 2016 (8 athletes are already qualified from last years event).

The discipline words requires memory athletes to memorize up to 50 words in 1 minute, with a recall time of 4 minutes. The current world record is 48 words in 59.24 seconds by Simon Reinhard from Germany. This record has been equalled in the qualifiers by Yanjindulam Altansuh but does not count as an official record, since it has not been done at the actual event.

Now let’s have a look what the top 16 qualification attempts for Words look like. Below you will find all the videos from the competitors. Enjoy!
